I swung the rope around my head,caught hold of the branch and heaved myself from the ground, just as the animals jaws snapped shut. The crocodile tried to chomp on my meaty legs because I’m the strongest man in the world.
I start swinging from tree to tree but the crocodile is following my track bellow in the the murky depths of the swamp. i drop onto dry land, no sign of the pesky crocodile. Now I can set up camp and check my traps tomorrow.
I bring out the tent and pitch it up and start a warm,cosy fire and cook up some fish and broth for a good night sleep. I’ve caught some snapper, Marlin, Kawayi, and two pieces of finger-licking king fish. Cooking it up, the bush started to rustle. Something or someone was in there. Don’t know who or what until i ripped the bush up and found..... the crocodile! It was just about ready to pounce on me. I start climbing the nearest and tallest tree and wait on the smoothest branch I can find in case the croc decides to wait for me to come down.3 hours pass like lightning. Theres a sudden change in weather.
Light at first, getting heavier by the minute. The stupid croc is waiting for its prey,{me} also having a dip every half hour. My stomach starts to rumble, I’m starving! I now remember my mothers remedy of stewed bark juice. It used to be my favourite source of food when other supplies were scarce. Ripping off parts of the bark the croc suddenly gets suspicious, not what I wanted to happen. The crocodile was now roaming a 360 right round the tree expecting me to try to get away. But I’m not, I’m trying to get a feed, I am starving like a cranky gorilla. Thats better, I’ve started to eat, nice tender boneless bark crunches. Now I’ve got the plan {light bulb.}
Double back flipping, I land on the crocodiles back and try to calm it down and give it a fish to it so it puts its hunger pains to rest. It hasn’t taken the bait, its too busy trying to flip me up and end up in its humongus jaws. “Come on eat up, theres plenty more where that come from, just eat the first one so I know you want more.” Guess what, it doesn’t stop, it doesn’t want a dumb old fish, it wants me! Jumping off the back I swing up on a branch and it falls directly on the crocodile.
I put it in the truck and pack up and go and get my traps set for crocs or just some river fish. I get there and find a giant river fish about 30 kgs. I get the traps, jump in the truck and yell “Its great to be in the wild and being here changes a lot.”
